Grill
- Pre-heat grill on medium-high heat.
- Form ground pork into 1/2" think patties.
- Place ground pork 4" from heat patties should be cooked 8-10 minutes flipping once. Juices will run clear when fully cooked.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to check internal temperature has reached 160 F.
Sauteing
- Pre-heat skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add 1 tablespoon of butter to coat surface of skillet.
- Add pork to skillet, begin to break apart and stir with spatula.
- Continue to stir and flip, cook for 8-10 minutes. Juices will run clear and meat will brown when fully cooked.
- Use an instant-read thermometer to check internal temperature has reached 160 F.
Pork & Pasta Skillet Supper
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground pork, 1 medium chopped onion, 1 - 14 ½ oz. can pasta-ready tomatoes, 1 - 8 oz. can tomato sauce, 1 zucchini or small summer squash thinly sliced, 1½ cups hot cooked penne pasta or other small pasta shape
Cooking Directions
- Heat nonstick skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add pork and onion; cook and stir until evenly browned.
- Stir in tomatoes and tomato sauce; bring to a broil.
- Reduce heat to low; cook for 5 minutes.
- Stir in squash and pasta.
- Cook for 2-5 minutes or until heated through.
Serves 4. Serve with a crisp green salad and French bread.
Italian Pork Burger
Ingredients
- 1 lb. lean ground pork, 1 teaspoon ground black pepper, ¼ teaspoon salt, 1 crushed garlic clove, 1 teaspoon crushed fennel seed and 2 teaspoons EACH of red wine and olive oil
Cooking Directions
- Gently mix ground pork and ingredients together; shape into 4 burgers about ¾ in thickness.
- Place on grill over moderate-hot coals, lower hood and grill for 5 minutes; turn and finish grilling 4-5 minutes more, until an instant-read thermometer reads 160 F.
- Serve immediately, on sandwich buns if desired.
Serves 4. Top burgers off with all or some of the following: avocado slices, bacon strips, bleu cheese, caramelized onions, coleslaw, mushrooms.
